The dental fillings for children’s procedure:
- Dr. Noguera complete the diagnosis through dental X-rays and an oral examination.
- Dr. Noguera will numb the area and the tooth and remove caries with a special tool.
- Finally, Dr. Noguera will fill the tooth with the chosen filling material (composite, glass ionomer) the material is then hardened with a special dental curing light.
Crowns
- Stainless steel crowns (SSCs) are pre-fabricated, durable caps used in pediatric dentistry to restore and protect your child's severely decayed primary (baby) teeth.

Dr. Noguera may recommend a stainless steel crown in the following situations:
- When a cavity is too large for a standard filling and has significantly weakened the tooth's structure.
- A baby tooth root canal requires a crown to seal and strengthen the tooth.
- Crowns can repair teeth damaged by trauma from an injury or accident.
- Conditions like enamel hypoplasia, which result in weak tooth enamel, may require the full coverage of a crown for protection.
Recommendations after Pediatric Dentistry Procedures
For procedures involving local anesthesia
Local anesthetic is used to numb the teeth and the surrounding tissues and can last for several hours (3 to 4 hours) after the appointment.
- Supervise closely your child until the numbness has completely worn off. This prevents them from accidentally chewing, sucking, or scratching the numb areas of their cheeks, lips, and tongue, which can cause serious injury.
- Remind your child not to touch the numb area of their mouth.
- Limit your child’s diet to soft foods or liquids until the local anesthetic has worn off and sensation comes back to normal.
