What to expect during your child first visit:
- The area around the tooth is numbed with a local anesthetic.
- Dr. Noguera uses a tool called a kids elevator to gently loosen the tooth from its socket.
- Once the tooth is loose, Dr. Noguera uses forceps to gentle rock back and forth or side to side to carefully wiggle the tooth out.
- Children recover well, mild discomfort that can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief. The child can usually return to normal activities within a day.
- A gauze is placed between the teeth to prevent lip injury, avoid drinking or eating (3 to 4 hours) until the numb wears off. Stick to a soft diet avoid hard food, crunchy foods.
- A simple extraction has a low risk of complications. However, if your child experience excruciating pain, swelling, excessive bleeding, fever, pus on the site of the extraction, please reach out to the office at 689-689-2399 or go immediately to the closest Urgent Care.
